DOUBLETAKE DOCUMENTARY FILM FESTIVAL AND ROLAND HOUSE HIGH DEFINITION POST PRODUCTION ANNOUNCE THE WINNER OF
THE HIGH DEFINITION DOCUMENTARY PRIZE
DURHAM, NC. July 20, 2000 - The DoubleTake Documentary Film Festival and Roland House High Definition Post Production have awarded their High Definition Documentary Prize to filmmaker Theodore Bogosian of Bogosian Productions in Watertown, Massachusetts for his upcoming project to be produced in the West Wing of the White House.
"I am exhilarated and challenged by this generous prize for my White House project, especially because the selection was made by such prestigious members of the worldwide documentary family," says Bogosian. "DoubleTake and Roland House deserve special credit for inspiring independent producers to expand their creative and technical horizons. I hope my production will serve the same purpose."
The prize will provide Bogosian, whose credits include Emmy nominated "Anatomy of a Homicide: Life on the Street" and the prize-winning documentary "Running Mate", both for PBS, with assistance in the completion and the exhibition of his long-format documentary, which will be produced in the High Definition format. The project will air on PBS as a presentation of Boston station WGBH-Boston following a featured premiere screening at the 4th annual DoubleTake Documentary Film Festival in April of 2001. According to DoubleTake Executive Director Nancy Buirski, "The mission of DoubleTake is to champion the independent voice in documentary through our four-day festival. The HD Prize gives us an opportunity to support documentary filmmakers outside of the festival in a critical area of growth and development in the industry. We are very excited about participating with Roland House in this prize and we are pleased to be supporting a talent like Ted Bogosian."
The High Definition Documentary Prize has been established in order to promote the production and presentation of high quality documentary films in the High Definition format and to support independent filmmakers who are interested in working in this format. Bogosian's project was chosen based on the quality of his proposal and its ability to use the new technology in an inventive and exciting way. "Roland House is excited about bringing the technical and creative power of High Definition to this project. It is our goal to connect the best stories, the best talent, and the best technology. We have definitely found that combination with Ted's film." stated Vince Forcier, Director of Engineering and High Definition Services at Roland House. DoubleTake and Roland House are pleased to have found a project that will benefit from High Definition production and will showcase those benefits so thoroughly.
